    Prodigy Engineering offers Laser Marking/Engraving services to fellow manufacturers in various industries and to individuals that require precision laser markings. We understand that it can be difficult to justify the high setup costs and high quantity minimums of traditional vendors that cater to architectural, automotive, and consumer electronics industries. Additionally, they often do not understand the level of specific detail and accuracy that is required for professional products. What is good enough for a hand-rail or car bumper does not come close to the level of quality and consistency that our professional OEM clients expect. What truly sets us apart from other laser marking vendors is that we are not a "Laser Marking Vendor".

    There are many advantages to laser engraving over traditional engraving. While traditional engraving requires cutting into and removing a portion of the material; thus changing the strength and integrity of the part, CO2 laser marking is a process that does not involve physical contact with the material being engraved. Laser marking is the process of using a high intensity beam of light to create a thermally bonded, high resolution permanent mark. The quality and precision of text and graphic marking cannot be matched by currently more conventional methods of legending like epoxy screening (silk screening). The resultant laser mark is more permanent than the aforementioned dye-based solution which is essentially cured dye residing on the surface of the material that can be scratched off. One minor limitation is the inability to produce color markings. Generally, only black or white markings can be made on metal materials (with some exceptions).
